Van Gogh HD App Reviews

Excellent

Beautifully designed, comprehensive and stable. Excellent reference!

Something that would be great

Hello Overdamped, youre doing a great work, i love your apps about the painters, really good. Will you do Bacon Soon ????

Descent slides

The app serves as an ok window to peek into some of the more famous paintings of the impressionism artist. Resolution of the pictures are satisfactory to be viewed on the iPad, but the lack of introductions for each period and minimal descriptions for each work render the educational value for this app close to zero. A grid view for bookmarked pictures and different versions of the same painting would also be welcomed to transform this app into something more than just a fancy picture frame.

Bug fix needed

The app crashes when the "Paris" set is viewed. Fix the bug please!

Good collection, so so quality

The selection of paintings/ drawings is better than many coffee table books, but the quality of the scans is often poor. HD mainly serves to show off the low quality prints from which many of these scans were made.

Bought

Well, the idea is very good, but colors of some images are too poor.

Excellent thing for 1 bucks

I like impressionists paintings, and found this Van Gogh gallery is the best of all i found for ipad. The possibility to overview almost all paintings of Van Gogh in your kitchen, while travelling by train or virtuaaly visit a galery with your friend is great! It doesnt replace real galleries, but real galleries doesnt replace this. (no galery has all his paintings) My summary: pros: - 1$ only; - fine navigation; - bookmarks (i use it like favorites); - easy and fine interaction with e-mail and iphotos (easy to export or sent what you like to your friend); - contains more information about painting that other apps; - contains much more paintings that other apps; cons: - sometimes it shuts down (havent yet fixed where and when); - "letter to theo" are very hard to read (for me personally), wish to see its content in text coming with images; - some paintings (2-4%) are not contrast like it is made with mobile phone; Resume: beautiful application, i strongly recommend to anyone who doesnt hate impressionists, instead it has minor bugs.

Great app

Hi guys , i have buy this and monet app, great app and perfect idea. Now i have a critic infact i think that in main page of this app is necessary a buttom for a link a wikipedia for the story of the life of the artist or a test that explain about it. Regards Roberto

Great idea, average execution.

Van Goghs _masterpieces_ deserve better attention to detail than this app delivers. Even a bit more time spent cropping many of these images would have earned this average app another star from me. Hate to sound harsh, and if the app improves in the future Ill revise my review.

Very good app, but...

I like this app a lot. The interface is excellent and the quality of the pictures is very good. I like the link to Wikipedia for more information. That said, I hope the developer will do some fact checking and correct the catalogue a bit. The most glaring example is The Starry Night, which was done at Saint Remy, not Arles.

Love the app, but....

Great app... But needs an option where you can play a slideshow of all categories together, and not just a slideshow of each section individually.

Mis-count?

I expected "hundreds of images" as advertised. Am I missing something? There are a few over 100 if you count the letters category. In spite of this I still like the app, and enjoyed seeing some little-seen images.

Great app, they may steal it from you if you buy it!

Same developer a Picasso HD. Be careful! Dont update this app if you buy it. I had this and the Picasso HD app. The Picasso app was deleted from my iPad when I updated! Complain to Apple if this happens to you. They should not allow automatic deletion of purchased apps. Its not the .99, its the principle. Great app though!

Keep the music

I wont purchase future apps that dont include classical music backgrounds; hint Da Vinci

The Night Cafe.

A very enjoyable app. As an avid pool player, I was looking for The Night Cafe and it is absent. I hope it gets included in an update.

Well done but needs a little tuning......

Nice app except iPad and iPhone wont support the mail file format youre using to send photos. Open on my Mac desktop and laptop but not on iPad and iPhone. Please address- thanks. Also, some photos are missing titles. Would also be nice if Wikipedia articles had adjustable font sizes.

Good survey but crashes

Some images are very good quality while others appear to be from an old Sunday newspaper. Good breadth of images, including facsimile letters to Theo, but crashes on my iPad.

Not as complete as Art Authority

Theres nothing wrong with this app. The image quality is good, and who can complain about Van Gogh... But it isnt worth 99 cents when the app Art Authority costs a few dollars more and includes hundreds more images by Van Gogh, as well as tens of thousands of images by DaVinci, Rembrandt, Picasso, Dali, and hundreds of other artists from every time period of art history. The interface of Art Authority smokes this app too. Spend a couple of dollars more and get a better app with a thousand times more incredible images.

what a fantastic update

Nicely done. keep more paintings coming. this is definitely my favorite art app ever.

Great Update

Love the music. This is an excellent app and a great update.
