Easy to use - easy to save to photo roll
Terrible. Just terrible. How did you get away with calling it HD?
I would recommend this.
This app works great as a quick visual reference for Van Goghs paintings. The quality is decent for what it is, meaning dont expect they were able to fly around the world and individually photograph each work so you can zoom in for unbelievable detail. The paintings look good on the iPad screen and you can zoom in further. What really needs work - developers please listen - is the wiki section. The app contains basic title and location info, and a links to wikipedia articles for the painting if they exist. The layout for this wiki section is horrendous though. No margins, and even the top "done" button is half off the page. This is on an iPad 2 so no excuses. The program should also offer offline saving of wiki pages so info can be accessed at any time.
Best use of the full screen on the iPad. The subtitles (name of piece, year, etc) are toggled on or off by a single tap. Zoom using standard pinching gestures. The given resolution is just above full screen. Meaning; zooming will not produce much extra detail. Still, not disappointing at all. Nice optional music that is appropriate for the time and genre. Watch for holiday and weekend discounts and "Collect Them All!"
These art apps are just the best. Great to relax and let the art roll or study and zoom in to see the actual brushstrokes! I love them and the price of art books keep rising, the room needed to store them is huge and you always have these at your fingertips. Plus, these are illuminated. You can not lose, they are fabulous!
Awesome! Stupendous! Breathtaking! Marvelous quality! Keep them coming! The best art apps. Period.
While this is a nice collection of Van Gogh paintings it does not contain as many images I was led to believe by the site and it leaves out a large number of well known paintings by the artist including many which are featured in the current Van Gogh exhibition in Philadelphia. I am also having trouble reconciling the color tones off these images with other images of the same paintings. One or the other is wrong because they are not the same. Significant color variation from the paintings shown on the recent Charlie Rose show on Van Gogh, for example.
There are many Van Gogh apps to buy that are good. This isnt one of them. Clunky, inelegant and limited - it also looks crappy on the new iPad retina display. Save your pennies for a different app.
I like this app. There is information about each painting and nice to have a collection of his work. I have an older version on my iPad that I like better, but this works fine.
...
Solid app worth downloading, but could have better zoom functionality and they need to fix the "no image" bug. Also, its annoying when you switch out and back into the app because interface status is not remembered so you start over every time you multitask.
Great for inspiration, and reflection. Id give 5 stars if the Letters section wasnt so weak.
Does not work on iso8. No way to contact the website
I cant save or bookmark any of the photos
Not recommended for iPhone. I have been using this on iPhone 6 and the bookmark and other controls option do not work on that device. These functions do work on my iPad.
I like the new version. The layout is better and it seems to have more pictures.
